About the
Author
Sylvia Lopez
After 25
years of service with the City of Phoenix as a Relocation
Specialist for the Real Estate division of the Finance
Department, I was getting ready to retire. It was the
beginning of the year 2000 and I was conversing with my son,
telling him I might do some writing during my retirement
years, but not necessarily right away. I did my share of
writing at work, preparing correspondence and working on
manuals, now and then. With time, my skills improved and it
became more comfortable to deal with that side of my job.
Along the
way I wrote some commemorative verses, for friends and family
but only at those times when I was spurred on by a special
event. Last year for some unknown reason, I spontaneously
began to write for special occasions; it was surprising how
the words came and I was pleased with the results. That
encouraged me on to write regarding my own thoughts, about a
variety of things. Before I knew it, I had enough written
material to put into a book. My friend says that this is
definitely a women’s book, I was surprised that she could
pinpoint that so readily. I hadn’t given it much thought, but
after hearing her say that, I had to agree.
I feel you
will find something in common with a lot of my verses, and
most of all, I hope you will enjoy them.

From the Heart of
a Woman
Verses for Family
and Friends
Truly verses from the heart of a
woman with a special love for family, friends and her faith! When
you read her poetry, you will find a glimmer of familiarity, a
smile or hint of sadness will cross your face. Chances are, you
will have something in common with this mother, grandmother, and
friend who wrote these sensitive and sometimes amusing verses.
The author includes some poignant
poetry that reflects her strong Christian faith.
One poem from
this book:
To
My Granddaughter Megan
Oh Megan Lee, oh Megan Lee!
What a pretty flower is she.
Is she a petunia?
Is she a pansy,
or is she simply "My Little
Sweet Pea"?
Is she a pretty petal?
Is she a do re mi?
Is she a lucky lady,
or a happy busy bee?
Oh Megan Lee, oh Megan Lee!
You are all of these to me.
Let’s play along, Let’s sing a
song.
Let’s be happy as can be.
Let’s be happy as can be!
