About the Author
Kas Winters is a self-published author of
children's books and family books. Her T-shirt should read
"plays well with others", because spending time
playing with children is one of the things she most enjoys. As
a mother and grandmother, Kas writes from her experiences with
her own children. All ideas are "kid-tested" and
"Winters family approved"! This book of fall family
activities (and the classroom option) were written in response to teacher and parent
requests for fall activities instead of Halloween
things-to-do. It is filled with crafts, storytelling,
noisemaking and other things to keep children busy and provide
sharing "together time" for parents and children.
Enjoy the season of autumn by spending some time doing things
together.

Materials
for Pinecone Owl: Pinecone, jiggle eyes, feathers, pipe
cleaner, piece of yellow construction paper or felt, white
glue, scissors, gloves
Use
the gloves to hold the pokey pinecone. Glue on jiggle eyes and
feather tufts that look like ears. Cut a small triangle with
scissors from yellow construction paper or felt and glue it in
place for a beak. Take a pipe cleaner and bend it to form two
feet. Glue the feet in place. That's all there is to it. Make
a whole family of owls and glue them to a small branch for a
