Pinecone Owl

pineconeowl.JPG (52336 bytes)

Materials for Pinecone Owl: Pinecone, jiggle eyes, feathers, pipe cleaner, piece of yellow construction paper or felt, white glue, scissors, gloves

Use the gloves to hold the pokey pinecone. Glue on jiggle eyes and  feather tufts that look like ears. Cut a small triangle with scissors from yellow construction paper or felt and glue it in place for a beak. Take a pipe cleaner and bend it to form two feet. Glue the feet in place. That's all there is to it. Make a whole family of owls and glue them to a small branch for a decoration.

Pumpkin Eggshell Decoration

tissuepunkin.jpg (15867 bytes)

Pumpkin decoration made by covering eggshell with pieces of tissue paper, held in place with watered-down white glue.

Pilgrim Decorations

These pilgrims are made by attaching a Styrofoam® head covered with cotton batting and a piece of nylon stocking to an empty jar lid. The noses are made by making a few stitches in the stocking and making sure some of the batting is within the stitches. Pull the thread and tie it to create a nose. Paint the faces. Hair is made of yarn. Clothing and accessories are pieces of fabric and ribbon that are glued to the bottles. Arms are pipe cleaners with stocking-over-batting hands and pieces of fabric glued in place to cover the pipe cleaners. Use scrap pieces of fabric, ribbon, etc. and be creative.

Pumpkin Bell Windchime

pumpkinbells.JPG (37201 bytes)

Materials: 4 small (2") clay pots; twine, raffia, jingle bells, orange and black acrylic pain, paintbrush

Paint the clay pots orange and add jack-o-lantern faces with the black paint after the orange layer is completely dry. When the paint is dry, place pots upside down with the bases up and run a piece of twine through the hole in each base. Tie the end of twine that is inside each pot to a jingle bell and then make a large knot just inside the hole so that it won't pull through. Make another good size knot on the outside of the hole to secure the pot. Leave about 15" of twine outside of the pot. When you have done this with all 4 pots, tie the long ends of the twine together. Add a little raffia to the top of each bell and put a raffia bow on top of the twine where it is tied together. Hang outdoors for a breeze or indoors as a decoration.
